ZPD Installs new Prescription Drug Dropbox

The Zachary Police Department is ready to collect any prescription medication its citizens are not using.

If medicine stays in a house unattended, police say there's a better chance of the meds getting into the wrong hands. The medication is collected then incinerated.

"Studies show kids between the ages of 12 and 17 abuse these prescription drugs,” stated Zachary Police Chief David McDavid. “What we're trying to do is get these out of the medicine cabinets at home so it won’t be abused on the streets"

If you can't make the event, there's a prescription drop box at the Florida Street entrance of the Zachary Police Department.
